Transform Your Health: Write to Heal
Transform Your Health: Write to Heal is a 6 week online course that provides you a technique, based on research in writing and wellness, to overcome traumas and emotional upheavals that keep you from being your best self. Research(1) has shown that working through issues can lead to improved health and better resilience. Expressive writing in particular can decrease heart rate, lower blood pressure, enhance breathing, strengthen the immune system, improve self-esteem and help manage stress.
Through the exercises and activities in this course, writing provides perspective on your circumstances, sends helpful information to your body, and engages your internal healing resources. The mind-body connection can be reinforced and strengthened through prompt-based writing. During this workshop, John Evans will lead you through writing activities he has created from his 25 years in the field. You do not need any writing experience or be interested in developing writing expertise. Your personal writing is also not shared with the group unless you choose to share. What is shared are your reflections on the impact the writing is having on you. The writing in this workshop is personal and is designed to give you a tool to develop your natural style of writing-to-heal, just as your exercise program or eating program also promote your health and well being.
